Bozeman businessman and tech entrepreneur Greg Gianforte sent comments in support of a coal terminal project on the west coast that would greatly benefit Montana.

Gianforte's comments were submitted to the Army Corps of Engineers on Friday.

GIANFORTE: "Montana is now on track for a 30 year low in coal production. This has led to declining revenue and layoffs all across the state. Our trading partners are going to be buying these products from someone, why wouldn't we want them to buy American and create good paying American jobs in the process?"

The Millennium Bulk Terminal project is in the permitting phase and at full build out, would export 44 million tons of coal per year. The Crow Tribe has an agreement with Cloud Peak Energy for a possible coal mine on the reservation. This project is critical for that coal mine to get to full production.

For other Montanans wishing to weigh in on the decision, Gianforte is encouraging you to send in your comments of support to the Army Corps of Engineers. The comment period closes on November 29th. The website to comment is www.GoMBTL.com
